Environmental Issues
 

The Government’s Environment 2010 Strategy identifies 11 priority issues; six, which are concerned with sustaining valued aspects of the environment and five are concerned with controlling pressures on the environment.
A range of links are provided for issues relating to Air, Water, Land, Biodiversity, Fisheries, Transport, Energy Services, Pests, Weeds & Diseases, Climate Change, Ozone Layer, Waste, Contaminated Sites and Hazardous Substances.


Environmental Management
 

The New Zealand system of environmental management consists mainly of three central government agencies with the aid of local government for day-to-day environmental management. It is intended to be integrated, consistent, and effects-based.
The core of the legislation for sustainability is the Resource Management Act 1991. The Act's purpose is to promote the sustainable management of natural and physical resources.
